Starfire inspects a special carrier from Nantucket Bike Basket Co. When its sides are folded up, the carrier attaches to a bicycle rack. Its removable, washable, fleece pad surrounds the cat with plush comfort.
When we travel with Starfire, it’s through necessity and she’s resigned to the experience. (She was SO GOOD during our trip of several-hundred miles to relocate from Ashland, Oregon to northern California — and before we left, we took her on short trips on-foot to Bear Creek Animal Clinic. For those latter, we loaded her, in-carrier, into our little red wagon.)
The carrier we used was canvas and mesh, collapsible for easy storage, and Starfire “liked” her plain-canvas carrier, or at least understood that it was her safe-space.
We hope that by giving Starfire access to this new carrier, before we have cause to use it, she’ll become accustomed to it.
As part of our effort to be able to get by completely without a car, we want to be able to transport Starfire via bicycle to her appointments. The expandable rear-rack pet carrier helps achieve that reality.
