The ride took us from Santa Rosa Avenue, where Santa Rosa Creek “has been transformed into a series of terraces with landscaping, trails, plazas and public art.” That description comes from Visit Santa Rosa, a Santa Rosa Metro Chamber project.
The Santa Rosa Creek trailhead is off Westside Road; total distance on the trail network is 6.18 miles between Westside Road and Santa Rosa Avenue, according to Sonoma County Regional Parks.
We’re working our way up to tackle the 8.47-mile Joe Rodota Trail between Santa Rosa and Sebastopol, part of a celebration for my birthday that will include seeing a play at a Sebastopol theater.
We’ve ridden the Joe Rodota Trail before, but my arms ached afterward, so this time around we want to build our endurance before tackling it again.
Santa Rosa Creek along the Greenway and trail is a very pleasant ride. The paved route dips beneath busy streets so we don’t have to navigate their crossing and the ride itself was very quiet, through very scenic countryside.
A stop at Oliver’s Market for some artisan bread was easy enough to do, thanks to connector ramps off the trail leading up to Stony Point Road.
