CityLab findings: Low-income commuters value cars

In spite of their awareness of transportation costs and car-related expenses, many respondents to a CityLab survey value cars for the “status” and “opportunities” they confer.

It’s worthwhile reading to understand attitudes and barriers that prevent more people from bicycling, including travel time, physical and social barriers.

As part of its series, “The Future of Transportation,” CityLab offers policy recommendations to support a socio-cultural shift away from car-dependent transport.
