News that the Lake Transit Authority has submitted a grant application to fund increased commuter services drew a lot of viewer interest on Tuesday on the Lake County Record-Bee website.

This Lake Transit rider is glad.

Even with the ChicoER.com headline this morning, that gas prices are down, commuting each day by automobile is a luxury I can’t afford. My $40-per-month rider’s pass is a value that can’t be beat. I feel grateful that bus travel times work with my daily schedule at the Lake County Record-Bee.

Many people are in the same position. More and more often, I hear people on the bus with me say they are riding the bus because of the price of gas.

The Jobs Access and Reverse Commute grant application, with an expansion of evening services, capacity increases for Clearlake and Lower Lake and a Lakeport route expansion were slated as part of Transit Manager Mark Wall’s report before the Lake Transit Authority today.
