Rogue Valley Transit to lengthen schedules

It will be easier than ever for my husband and me to use Rogue Valley Transportation District (RVTD) buses during stays in Ashland, Ore. The Medford Mail Tribune reported that starting April 2, RVTD will expand weekday hours and add Saturday services.
“RVTD has received a $983,052 federal air-quality grant that will help pay for the expanded service. Other grants and contingency dollars will make up the difference for a program estimated to cost nearly $2.1 million over a three-year period.”
During our trips to Ashland, Ore., we stay at a hotel located just outside of town. We like to walk into town and during weekdays, ride back on the Route 10 that runs between Medford and Ashland.

During previous stays, we had to forego our Saturday walks into town because, as we learned on one occasion when we had to call a cab, the buses did not run on Saturdays.

According to the Mail Tribune, in most cities served by RVTD, buses will keep running until 8 or 8:30 p.m. weekdays instead of stopping at 6:30 p.m. New Saturday hours include the Route 10 betwen Phoenix, Talent and Ashland, running once per hour from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
