Middletown to Lakeport, daily commute by bus

In an effort to save money and to reduce my impact on the environment, I am riding to work on the bus each day. The bus leaves Middletown at 6:45 a.m. Route 2 goes as far as Kit's Corner, where I transfer to Route 4 and ride to Mendocino College in Lakeport.

From there, I transfer to Route 8, which drops me off at Kmart across the street from the Lake County Record-Bee.

The trip home is even easier: the inbound Route 4A passes right by the Record-Bee at 5:15 p.m. I try to board it if I can; otherwise, I board when it makes its way back in the other direction at 5:30 p.m. I have to cross the street to board the outbound bus so I try to board the inbound if I can.

Route 4A heads out Soda Bay Road and when it reaches Kit's Corner, it becomes Route 2 and travels back over Cobb. At the senior center in Middletown, it becomes Route 3, goes as far south as Twin Pine Casino then heads up Highway 29.

I disembark at Hardester's in Middletown and walk home to our apartment, which is just a few blocks away.
